How Much Wine Will I Need at My Wedding?

When buying your wine reconsider the following: approximately 30-50% of your guests will drink white wine - Chardonnay is a good option; 30-50% will drink red wine mostly Cabernet and about 10-20% will drink white Zinfandel.

Consider your crowd; more women normally means more white wine, more men will mean more red wine drinkers. Also reconsider the time of the wedding; more red wine will be needed for an evening.
Dinner wedding reception, Alternatively look at 2 bottles per table of 10 as with the Champagne. So for a wedding reception of 200 guests you will need to order/purchase:
3 cases x 12 of champagne + 4 bottles
3 cases x 12 White wine (2 cases Chardonnay/1 case Zinfandel)
3 cases x 12 red wines

Instead of putting open bottles of wine at the table, which encourages waste, reconsider request the venue to organise that the waiters pour the wines gift choice.

Have a chat with the someone coordinating the Bar and ensure the following: Bottles of wine served from the bar must only be opened as needed and bottles must not be soaked in ice as this removes or damages the labels. Unopened, undamaged bottles of wine can be returned, thereby rescue you money.
